Kodi was my soulmate.
After his best friend Aiko crossed the bridge, the spark left his eye. Is it really possible to succomb to a broken heart? Kodi was our first show dog, together we learned what to do in the ring and what not to do. Kodi was never a big fan of the conformation ring preferring instead to do clicker work, tricks and obedience. He was trained in agility and through open work in obdience and picked up two legs toward his CD after attaining his AKC Championship.. #1. Akita rule-NEVER lie to your dog. Each and every time we sought that last major I'd whisper in Kodi's ear-take this last win and I'll never make you go in the conformation ring again. We finally got that major on day two of a four day circuit. I allowed Ed to talk me into moving Kodi up to the Breed competition the following day. As we were waiting for our turn at the hands on exam by the judge, a friend tugged on my sleeve from behind and handed me a towel at the exact moment I felt something warm on my legs and noticed a nice bright yellow stain on my skirt-this had NEVER happened to us before. I guess Kodi got the final say. We did NOT move him up the following day. We've never stopped missing this boy.
