Keno was a very special girl. She loved the show ring and the attention she commanded each time she entered with her "look at me" attitude. She always entertained those who were judging her with her response of a quiet friendly "woof" when ever the judge spoke to her. Tragically we lost Keno at the tender age of nearly five. She had begun weaning her puppies just two days before, went outside for a potty break, laid down next to the whelping box and died, adding to the tragic statistics of those special dogs who crossed the bridge during and or after whelping. A necropsy was inconclusive leaving the Vet to deem her death as a stroke to the brain-he assured us he felt it had nothing to do with her having a litter, and we should consider it as one of the many unexplainable occurrences of life. It was no consolation to us, as we still had many questions and huge gaping holes in our hearts. Please let this serve as a reminder that breeding dogs is serious business and is best done by those with experience. Keno left a legacy of many fond memories for us through her puppies.
